Weight control
We all have problems controlling our weight at some point in our
lives. However, there are some conditions that may make it even more
difficult to manage regardless of how well balanced our diet and
exercise is. If your GP has not identified a major cause of
your problem, it may be worth getting tested to rule out some other
conditions.
Weight control problems, possibly coupled with water
retention can sometimes indicate a
food intolerance.
Whilst you may be eating a healthy balanced diet, if your immune
system reacts against a certain food you eat, you will not feel
healthy for it.
Whilst not very common, sudden weight gain can be a symptom
of hypothyroidism
whereas sudden weight loss and an increase in appetite
could indicate
hyperthyroidism.
Rapid weight loss is also a symptom of
Coeliac disease as
the body struggles to digest nutrients as the immune system attacks
the bowel.
