Buy a Pernicious Anaemia (Anemia) Screening Test. This laboratory test is a reliable way to test if your symptoms are due to Pernicious Anaemia. Pernicious anaemia is tested by measuring the (intrinsic) factors needed for Vitamin B12 adsorption and usage by the body. Full support is included in the testing fee. Your results will be ready in just a few days. To send your sample to the lab for testing is easy as 1-2-3.
Step 1. Receive your sampling pack in the mail. If you receive an abnormal result treatment should be sought from your GP.
Why choose this test? This test measures two factors and is known as the instrinsic factor antibody test. The intrinsic factor antibody test looks at the ability of the body to adsorb Vitamin B12 and to use that Vitamin B12. Abnormal intrinsic factor can cause you to be very tired, chronically fatigued. Eliminate the anaemia from the list of possible causes of your fatigue with this accurate lab test.
Further Information on Pernicious AneamiaWhat is anaemia?Anaemia occurs when there is a deficiency of red blood cells and not enough oxygen is circulated around the body. There are a number of different types of anaemia including the genetic sickle cell anaemia and iron deficiency anaemia. The most common type of anaemia is Pernicious Anaemia. This is an autoimmune disease that is caused due to B12 deficiency. B12 deficiency is caused by a diet lacking in B12, or more commonly due to the lack of Intrinsic Factor (IF), a glycoprotein essential for the absorption of B12. People with Pernicious Anaemia produce auto-antibodies to IF preventing vitamin B12 absorption, either by blocking the binding of B12 to IF, or by binding directly to the IF-B12 complex itself. How does the test work? There are two types of Intrinsic Factor (IF); Type 1 IF antibodies interact with the binding site for vitamin B12 and therefore interfere with the binding of vitamin B12 to the IF in the stomach. Type 2 IF antibodies block the binding of both IF and vitamin B12-IF complexes to a specific receptor. This test analyses both types of auto-antibodies to IF. Treatment of AneamiaIf your results show a lack of Intrinsic Factor then you must discuss your results with your GP who will prescribe the appropriate treatment. A complete recovery is usually achievable by taking the necessary vitamins or B12 injections. |
