Buy a Coeliac (Celiac) Disease Screening Test.

This laboratory test is a reliable way to test if Coeliac (Celiac) disease or Gluten Intolerance could be the cause of your symptoms.

Full support is included in the testing fee.  Your results will be ready in just a few days.  To send your sample to the lab for testing is easy as 1-2-3.

Step 1.  Receive your sampling pack in the mail.
Step 2.  Sample a few blood drops and post to the lab.
Step 3.  Receive your results in a few days.

With Coeliac testing, a gluten free diet can affect the results.  Furthermore in some people an antibody Transglutaminase IgA is naturally absent which can give a false negative results. Hence there are now two tests for Coeliac.

Please choose the most appropriate test for Coeliac.

Have you (or the person to be tested) been on a Gluten Free Diet over the last few weeks? If you are on a gluten free diet, you must consult your doctor before changing this regime.

  • If the answer is "YES" then we recommend the Transglutaminase IgA test to screen for Coeliac Disease.

  • If the answer is "NO" then we recommend that the Anti-Gliadin test is used to screen for Coeliac Disease.

Why use this test for Coeliac disease?

Coeliac (or Celiac) should be quickly ruled out.  Exposure of the gluten intolerant gut to gluten can cause pain, bloating and increases the risk of intestinal tumours.

If you receive a positive results, this test will accelerate your treatment. You should consult your GP if your results are above normal. Your GP may refer you to a consultant gastroenterologist and to a consultant dietician.

While there is no cure for Coeliac Disease, sticking to a strict gluten free diet can reverse any damage caused to the small intestine.

Technical information about the Coeliac Screening test.

Transglutaminase IgA Test (tTG-IgA)

This is a new immunological marker for the identification of patients with Coeliac Disease. External studies have shown that the Transglutaminase IgA test results show a 99% – 100% correlation with the "gold standard" endomysial antibodies tests. A positive tTG IgA result is compelling evidence of Coeliac Disease.

Some Celiac patients suffer from IgA deficiency and in these cases, the tTG-IgA will be falsely negative. In such cases, the Anti-gliadin test may prove more useful.

Anti-Gliadin Test

Gliadin is a major protein found in the gluten fraction of wheat. Gliadin antibodies are found in 95% of coeliac patients, provided the patient is not on a gluten free diet, but they are also present in some other diseases. For this reason both classes of antibodies are measured. The test measures the two key antibodies (IgA & IgG) to Gliadin.

Important note: The concentration of Gliadin and Transglutaminase antibodies in blood is stimulated by the presence of gluten in the diet. Patients who are on a gluten free diet for more than 2 months may therefore produce normal results in these tests. If you are on a gluten free diet, consult your doctor before changing this regime or ordering any blood tests.
